UPDATE 1-Japan fishermen take cover to slaughter dolphins in face of Western criticism

The number quoted of 30 killed here is not correct. I saw on Twitter that 129 were killed, 51 taken captive and 70 driven back to sea. Not many expected to survive. These are babies & young ones. All adult dolphins would have been taken alive or killed for meat. These young ones would have seen their moms, dads, families struggle with their killers and may even have got hurt in the struggle. I saw it on Twitter yesterday, the day of the horrific slaughter. Why hide under tarps if `fishermen’ were only doing their jobs? Too sad, this must stop! In 21st century, we don’t need such barbaric & cruel `culture’ or festivals!

This number of 30 killed is not right. I saw on Twitter yesterday that 51 taken captive, 129 killed and 70 driven out to sea. Those released are babies & young ones; not many expected to survive after gruelling 4+days. They have lost their adult families, including moms/dads and may have been injured in the struggles when divers/trainers were selecting pretty ones for sale into captivity and finally when taken for killing yesterday. What I saw on the live stream will stay in my mind forever, so sad, to see their fear, confusion & desperation to escape. We must stop this madness! In the 21st century, we don’t need barbaric culture or festivals like this!
