The status Quo is not the answer to global warming, as sleeping at the wheel is not. The combination of silence, inaction and finger pointing is NOT a remedy against this oncoming tidal wave of destruction of farmland and both human and natural habitat.
At the meeting in Doha, as in previous such meetings, the world is once again witnessing the prisoner’s dilemma. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prisoner%27s_dilemma “a canonical example … that shows why two individuals might not cooperate, even if it appears that it is in their best interests to do so.” It’s such an old (1950) and well known example of human behavior yet psychologists have yet to get the upper hand on this folly and seem as unable as ever to convince humanity that cooperation is what makes the world tick. While the clicking of cooperation is hopelessly lacking, the global warming clock is ticking more loud and clear every day.
