Very good to see progress in this area. And just think, all this exploration and expansion would not be possible had the Greek Cypriots agreed to the 2004 Annan plan, which among other last minute changes to the plan by Great Britain, would have given all rights to the territorial waters of Cyprus to Great Britain, including the areas currently being explored. Another such change GB sneaked in a few days before the referendum, would have given GB drilling rights to the continental shelf as well. Good thing people can read.

All the Cypriots on the island have an equal right on these resources. But the Greek Cypriots seem like they don’t really care much about this fact. I hope one day Greek Cypriots realize that the Turkish Cypriots are their equal partners in the island. The Greek Cypriots need to be convinced that the peace on the island is crucial for prosperity. All these exploration activities are only serving for the increase of tension in the Meditarrenean. The Turkish Cypriots offered to Greek Cypriots to establish a joint Commission for steering the exploation activities around the Cyprus island. But the Greek Cypriots even did not reply to this goodwill gesture.
