Women seeking birth control get unneeded pelvic exams

My first question, is where has all the insurance company representatives been?

If you see a lot of pelvic exams and contraceptive claims crossing your desk (or on your printouts), why does no one red flag this?

Obviously, someone must know the one is not necessary to receive the other.

I have a big problem believing the insurance company is trying to find more ways to hand out all this “disposable income” at their fingertips. So when paperwork continuously crosses your printouts that do not in any way correspond one with the other, why is the whole thing just ignored and let it continue as is?

Then we have the breast exam some always do with the pelvic exam. This is usually ineffective in younger women. On the other hand, some just listen to the request and prescribe the pill. How is this doc to know if there isn’t an infection or something wrong down there?
