The idea of negotiating a vendor down is good to a point. I have seen companies negotiate past a reasonable point with respect to the cost to produce materials used. While I would suspect that there may be a way to go before that point is reached in pharmas et al, we should consider that some of the cost is FDA overhead, and this should be reviewed possibly even with higher priority than the current costs of materials used in surgeries, etc.
