Celebrating the defeat of health care is similar to cattle celebrating the gate to the pen being closed closed and the slaughter house resuming its schedule. I find little joy in celebrating the death of 44,000 Americans who will die this year from lack of health care, or the untold bankruptcies as the pharmacutical, medical, and insurance industries drain an individual of their life’s assets. The fireworks and cheering will continue until those celebrating realize they’ve been had. Unfortuantely, it will be too late then.

Pelosi and the House Of Representatives are a wreck. These are the same people who failed with the stimulus, are pushing this monster of a health care bill on us, and are trying to use fear of global warming for control. For example, suppose you are dignosed to have cancer requiring chemotherapy to survive. No insurance, no treatment, early death. It is an illusion that all Americans can simply show up at a hospital and have an equal chance at survival as someone with insurance. While it is comforting to believe that those without insurance are the illegal aliens, or the lazy, or those too cheap to buy it, or those who don’t choose to work, it is most likely your neighbors who lost their jobs and now only can find part time work without benefits. It is people who’s COBRA ran out and they can’t buy insurance because they have high blood pressure, etc. No, while you may sleep at night pretending that all Americans without insurance are covered by a humane safety net, 35,000,000 fellow Americans are probably awake trying to figure out how to survive. I recall a Larson cartoon showing cattle lined up to enter the slaughter house, and one objecting that someone was taking cuts. I see this celebration almost as insane. In reference to the comment on Pelosi’s pantsuits…did you forget about Palin’s $100,000 campaign wardrobe for not only herself, but her entire family (not to mention the father of her daughter’s illegitimate child)? If you should have Cobra, stop your belly aching and give thanks for your 4-5-6-$700/month preimum and the compromised service it delivers. Remember though…don’t miss that premimum payment, because the rest of us are going through life with blinders on not wanting to know what exists on the other side of them.
