Italian Stocks - Factors to watch on April 28

    MILAN, April 28 (Reuters) - The following factors could 
affect Italian markets on Tuesday. 
    Reuters has not verified the newspaper reports, and cannot 
vouch for their accuracy. New items are marked with (*). 
 
    FIAT  
    The automaker considers Chrysler's [CBS.UL] new contract 
with the Canadian Auto Workers union to be cost competitive, 
Canada's Industry Minister Tony Clement said on Monday, helping 
to pave the way for a partnership between Fiat and the ailing 
U.S. automaker. [nN272289] 
     
    Representatives of Chrysler union workers voted to recommend 
members ratify cost-cutting changes, the Wall Street Journal 
reported. [nWEN7950] 
     
    The Italian company has until Thursday to clinch a deal with 
Chrysler while Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne has also shown an 
interest in General Motors'  German unit Opel. Analysts 
see a series of scenarios. [nLR284663] 
     
    Daimler AG  reached an agreement with Chrysler, 
the U.S. automaker's owner Cerberus Capital Management, and the 
U.S. Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp to exit its 19.9 percent 
stake in the company. [nN27177782] 
     
  * Fiat is open to forging an alliance with Chrysler even if it 
files for bankruptcy and goes through a process that sees some 
of its assets spun off, the Financial Times said, citing people 
in the company. 
     
    INTESA SANPAOLO  
    Major shareholder Compagnia San Paolo holds options to hike 
its stake in the bank by up to 1.93 percent and reach 9.89 
percent, the shareholder said in a statement. [nMAT009478] 
     
    The shareholder accord between France's Credit Agricole 
 and insurer Assicurazioni Generali  could 
expand to include the Cariparma foundation, MF reported. 
Cariparma holds 1.4 percent of Intesa Sanpaolo. 
 
    UNICREDIT  
    Credit rating agency Moody's cut its rating on Unicredit 
Bank Austria to A1/D+ from AA2/C+p,  
    UniCredit's board is scheduled to meet on Tuesday. 
     
    LOTTOMATICA  
    The gaming company should post a rise in first quarter 
results on Tuesday afternoon and give more detailed guidance on 
its full year expectations, analysts said. [nLR454354] 
     
    TERNA  
    The electricity tranmission company's rating and outlook are 
unchanged by the company's announcement on April 24 that is 
selling its Brazilian transmission operations, Standard & Poors 
said in a statement. [nWNA2617] 
     
    A2A  
    Chairman of the utility's supervisory board Renzo Capra said 
he has not yet received any letter from A2A's main shareholders, 
the cities of Milan and Brescia, dismissing him from his post, 
Capra said at a news conference on Monday. 
 
    ENEL  
    The energy company plans to hire 3,000 new workers over the 
three year period 2009 to 2011, 60 percent in Italy, Enel said 
in a statement after a meeting between its Chief Executive 
Fulvio Conti and trade union leaders. 
     
  * LUXOTTICA  
    Morgan Stanley raised its price target on the eyewear maker 
to 16.20 euros from 12.90 euros, rating "overweight". 
     
  * BANCA POPOLARE DI MILANO  
    The election of Massimo Ponzellini as chairman could boost 
cooperation between the cooperative bank and Credit Mutuel, a 
representative of the French bank said, according to Il Sole 24 
Ore. 
     
    SMALL, MID-CAPS 
 
    IRIDE , ENIA  
  * Genoa's city council has approved the merger of Turin-Genoa 
utility Iride with Enia. The Turin city council will meet on 
Tuesday morning to renew debate on the deal. 
    Enia and Iride start shareholder meetings at 1500 GMT. 
     
    BUZZI UNICEM  
    The cement company has decided to freeze $300 million in 
investments for its Maryneal, Texas, plant because of the 
economic slowdown, MF reported. 
     
  * BULGARI  
    Morgan Stanley cut the jeweller's price target to 3.12 euros 
from 3.90 euros, rates "equal weight".
