India Hot Stocks: Marico extends gains on Q4 performance

    MUMBAI, April 22 (Reuters) - The following stocks were on the 
move at the BSE on Wednesday. 
    At 1.16 p.m., the benchmark 30-share BSE index <.BSESN> was 
down 1.6 percent at 10,723.62 points. 
    The 50-share National Stock Exchange Index <.NSEI> was down 
1.93 percent at 3,300.35 points.

    * Marico Ltd  extended gains and rose as much as 
6.75 percent to 68 rupees after the company posted a 9 percent 
rise in consolidated net profit to 444.1 million rupees for the 
quarter ended March 31. 
    Shares were up 2.8 percent at 66.5 rupees.

    * Praj Industries Ltd  fell as much as 9.2 percent 
to 68 rupees after the company on Tuesday posted a more than 15 
percent fall in net profit to 1.3 billion rupees in FY09.  
    Shares were down 8.41 percent at 68.6 rupees.

    * Wipro Ltd  jumped to a high of 294.95 rupees after 
it posted a 4 percent rise in Jan-March net profit to 9.1 billion 
rupees, beating forecasts. Shares later eased to 290.20 rupees, 
up 5.8 percent.

    * ICICI Bank  rose as much as 3.5 percent in morning 
trades after India's largest private lender cut lending rates by 
50 basis points. Shares in the bank were up 3 percent at 411 
rupees.

    * Motherson Sumi Systems  rose to a high of 89.90 
rupees after 7 million shares, or 1.96 percent of equity, changed 
hands in a block deal on BSE at 82 rupees each. 
    Shares were up 6.8 percent at 84 rupees

    * HCL Technologies Ltd  fell as much as 13.29 
percent to 120 rupees after the software exporter posted a 42 
percent fall in net profit in the March quarter. 
    Shares recovered to 129 rupees, still down 6.79 percent.
