Algeria says Embraer did not win $104.68 mln deal
ALGIERS, July 8 (Reuters) - Algerian oil company Sonatrach subsidiary TassiliAirlines said on Wednesday it had not awarded Brazilian planemaker Embraer (EMBR3.SA) a $104.68 million deal, Algerian official news agency APS said a day after an official statement announced the contract.
"The offer of the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer was rejected after examination and control of documents," APS quoted a statement by Tassili Airlines as saying.
Sonatrach said on Tuesday Embraer would supply three 100-seat jets for $104.68 million to its Tassili subsidiary while U.S. aircraft maker Boeing (BA.N) Boeing secured an $228.5 million deal to sell it four 150-seat planes. [ID:nAHM730641]
"The signing ceremony will concern the contract between Boeing and Tassili Airlines," Wednesday's statement said.
It was not clear why Tassili Airlines contradicted Tuesday's statement.
The main role of Tassili Airlines is transporting people working in Algeria's energy industry but it plans to expand operations with domestic and international passenger flights. (Reporting by Hamid Ould Ahmed; Editing by Hans Peters)
