ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND (RBS.L)
RBS has hired Dennis Holman, Chad Smith and Mehdi Alloula as senior salespeople for the foreign exchange sales team within its global banking and markets Americas division. Holman, who most recently was head of real money sales at Wells Fargo Bank (WFC.N), will join as a managing director in foreign exchange sales, reporting to Craig Donaldson, head of financial institutions foreign exchange. Smith, most recently a director in foreign exchange sales at UBS Investment Bank (UBSN.VX) (UBS.N), will join as a managing director in foreign exchange sales reporting to Stefano Lupi, global head of foreign exchange bank sales, and to Donaldson. Alloula, most recently with Citigroup's (C.N) investment banking unit in London, has joined as a managing director reporting to Nick Greenland, head of global financial institutions risk advisory, and to Donaldson.
OPPENHEIMER & CO
The brokerage and investment banking unit of Oppenheimer Holdings Inc hired Michael Murphy and Tom Mulkeen, who formerly headed up Merrill Lynch's Long Island Global Institutional Advisory Division, to assume positions in Oppenheimer's Taxable Fixed Income Sales and Trading Department. Murphy and Mulkeen, who will both be managing directors, bring with them four of their colleagues at Merrill, Scott Dorsey, Tom Keady, Clemente Cesare and Eric St. John.
NEW YORK STATE BOARD OF REAL ESTATE
New York State Governor David Paterson named Gregory Weston, an attorney in the New York office of law firm Nixon Peabody, to the board, which has general authority to proclaim rules and regulations affecting real estate brokers and salespersons.
PROVIDENT FINANCIAL SERVICES INC (PFS.N)
The holding company for the Provident Bank said Linda Niro, the chief financial officer and executive vice president, will retire effective September 29.
The company named Thomas Lyons, vice president and chief accounting officer of the Provident Bank, as senior vice president and chief financial officer of both the company and the bank upon Niro's retirement.
KNIGHT LIBERTAS LLC
The subsidiary of Knight Capital Group Inc (NITE.O) named Les Levi as managing director, head of corporate finance. Levi joined Knight from Plainfield Asset Management, a special situations hedge fund, where he was a partner.
FIRST FEDERAL
First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Charleston, a subsidiary of First Financial Holdings Inc (FFCH.O), said it appointed R. Wayne Hall as chief operating officer, effective July 15, in addition to his current responsibilities as executive vice president and chief financial officer.
