UPDATE 1-Petrohawk terminates stockholder plan before time

* Says plan terminated on June 10

* Says stockholders did not have to take any action

June 11 (Reuters) - Oil and gas producer Petrohawk Energy Corp (HK.N) said it had terminated its stockholders rights plan four months earlier than it was previously supposed to expire.

The company said it had entered into an amendment to its plan, which accelerated the final expiration date of the Plan from Oct. 14, 2009 to the close of business on June 10, 2009. It also said its stockholders did not have to take any action as a result of the termination.

Petrohawk did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
