** China's Ministry of Commerce played down reports that it is at odds with the economic planning agency over a controversial deal for a little-known Chinese company to buy GM's GMGMQ.PK Hummer unit. [ID:nPEK143454]

** The board of LCH.Clearnet last month rejected a bid for the clearing house from a consortium led by ICAP (IAP.L) due to concerns about the details of the business plan, two people familiar with the matter said. [ID:nLF405964]

** Paper mill owner PaperWorks Industries, owned by private equity firm Sun Capital Partners Inc, is to take control of privately owned The Specialized Packaging Group, in a deal that expands the paper company into the packaging market. [ID:nN14289888]

** Ukraine intends to hold a repeatedly-delayed sale of the Odessa Port chemical plant on Sept. 29 and is looking to raise at least 4 billion hryvnias ($525 million), the privatisation agency said. [ID:nLF116340]

** British support services group Connaught (CNT.L) agreed to buy ground maintenance firm Fountains (FNT.L) in a 13.3 million pound ($21.6 million) all-share deal which will extend its environmental business nationwide. [ID:nLF52249]
