Dec 19 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals involving European, U.S. and Asian companies were reported by 2100 GMT on Wednesday.

** Morgan Stanley (MS.N) said that Chinese sovereign wealth fund China Investment Corp Ltd was buying $5 billion in equity units which are convertible to stock in the brokerage.

** British oil rig builder and operator Abbot Group Plc ABTG.L said it had agreed to a 906 million pound ($1.82 billion) management buyout backed by private equity firm First Reserve, an energy specialist. [nL19872071]

** Private equity firm Silver Lake Partners has agreed to buy one-quarter of Wall Street research firm Gerson Lehrman Group, in a deal that values the company at $875 million, the New York Times reported. [nN19562947]

** GlaxoSmithKline Plc (GSK.L) has signed a drug development deal with Danish biotech firm Santaris Pharma potentially worth more than $700 million to develop novel antiviral medicines.[nL19166185]

** Wells Fargo Insurance Services Inc, a subsidiary of Wells Fargo & Co (WFC.N), said it completed the acquisition of four more insurance agencies.[nWNAS4950]

** Spanish chemicals group La Seda de Barcelona (SED.MC) said energy firm Cepsa (CEP.MC) has a 12 percent stake in it after La Seda bought Cepsa's Interquisa unit for 595 million euros ($857 million). [nL19874929]

** Amusement and gambling machine maker Inspired Gaming Group Plc (INGG.L) said Icelandic investment firm FL Group no longer planned to buy it, saying the two had ended talks.

In September Inspired received an indicative 270 million pound ($543.6 million) cash takeover offer from FL Group. [nWLB4994]

** British aerospace company Cobham (COB.L) expanded its presence in the growing defence electronics industry with the $240 million acquisition of a U.S.-based maker of communications and radar jamming equipment. [nL19237063]

** Biotechnology company Alkermes Inc (ALKS.O) said it received $166.3 million from the sale of its stake in heart drug specialist Reliant Pharmaceuticals Inc to Europe's biggest pharmaceuticals group GlaxoSmithKline Plc (GSK.L). [nWNAS4923]

** Hedge fund SRM Global said it had again edged up its stake in stricken British mortgage lender Northern Rock NRK.L to 9.74 percent, up from the 9.51 percent it announced on Tuesday. [nL193426]
