ROPES & GRAY
U.S. law firm Ropes & Gray said it has hired Maurice Allen and Michael Goetz, previously co-heads of the banking and capital markets practice groups of law firm White & Case, to lauch a London office in January. Ropes & Gray said its senior U.S. partners Newcomb Stillwell and David Chapin will be helping Allen and Goetz launch and grow the new office.
ANDERSON KILL & OLICK
The law firm announced that Pamela Hans has been named managing shareholder in the firm's Philadelphia office. Hans practices in the area of insurance coverage on behalf of policyholders, including home builders, non-profit organizations, ethanol producers and hog processors.
BROADPOINT GLEACHER (BPSG.O)
The investment bank named Cliff Siegel, chairman and CEO of London-based ISM Capital, as chief executive of a newly established affiliate, Broadpoint International. Siegal was previously founding CEO of Jefferies (JEF.N) International. Also joining with him are Edward Males, a managing director at Jefferies before joining ISM Capital, and Michael Bancroft, at Polygon Investment before joining ISM.
PIPER JAFFRAY (PJC.N)
The middle-market investment bank has hired Maureen Decker, most recently marketing director at Invesco (IVZ.N), to lead business development for FAMCO, a wholly owned asset management unit. Decker, who will focus on developing relationships with institutional clients, will report to FAMCO Chief Executive Wiley Angell and be based in Connecticut.
WELLS FARGO & CO (WFC.N)
The No. 4 U.S. bank is hiring Ronald Stack and Edward Boyles as heads of its Northeast and Southeast public finance teams, respectively. Stack was previously managing director and head of public finance at Barclays Capital and Lehman Brothers, while Boyles was most recently at Bank of America Corp (BAC.N). Also joining from BofA is Robert Hobson, who will be a managing director reporting to Boyles.
VONTOBEL (VONN.S)
The Swiss private bank said Felix Lenhard will be the new head of operations and a member of the group executive management.
ANGELO, GORDON & CO
The private alternative asset management firm said it appointed Jon Tanaka as managing director and head of Japan. Tanaka was managing director for RREEF Japan, the alternative investment management business of Deutsche Bank's (DBKGn.DE) asset management division. Continued...
