UPDATE 1-Children's Place reschedules stockholders' annual meet
* Says SEC must review proxy statements for the meet
* Meet deferred to July 31 from June 26
June 9 (Reuters) - Children's Place Retail Stores Inc (PLCE.O) rescheduled the annual meeting of stockholders saying the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission will have to review and clear proxy statements for the annual meet.
The meet has been deferred to July 31 from June 26.
The election of directors is being contested by the clothing retailer's shareholder and former chief executive Ezra Dabah. In May he named three nominees for election to the board. [ID:nBNG498519]
Stockholders of record on June 30 will be eligible to vote at the annual meet, the company said in a statement.
Shares of the Secaucus, New Jersey-based company were up nearly 4 percent at $31.94 Tuesday morning trade on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Renju Jose in Bangalore; Editing by Ratul Ray Chaudhuri)
