UPDATE 1-TABLE-U.S. retailers' June same-store sales
Abercrombie (ANF.N) -26.6 -32.0 $230.4 mln
-26.0 On the basis of merchandise classification
across all brands in both men's and women's,
graphic tees, shorts and knit tops were weakest.
Stronger performing categories included female
woven shirts and dresses. Regionally comparable
store sales were down in all US regions and
Canada.
Hot Topic (HOTT.O) -6.4 -7.9 $59.5 mln
-5.8 The number of transactions fell in the
mid-single digit range, while the average
transaction amount declined in the low
single-digits. Comps in the men's segment
improved but those in the accessories and
women's segment remained weak.
American Eagle (AEO.N) -7.9 -11.0 $246.1 mln
-4.0 Sales were hurt by weak store traffic,
particularly during the latter part of the
month. Comps in both the men's and women's
category under the AE brand declined in the
low-double-digits.
Aeropostale (ARO.N) 10.3 12.0 $163.2 mln
20.0 Strength of its summer collection, along with
the successful execution of its pre-planned
promotions, led to solid increases in both sales
and merchandise margins. Women's business
increased in the low-double-digits and the
men's business rose in the low doubles.
Wet Seal (WTSLA.O) -9.1 -11.1 $51.6 mln
-9.3 Business at Wet Seal stores was hurt by
aggressive promotions by competitors.
Transactions per store increased year-over-year
at Arden B.
The Buckle (BKE.N) 12.0 9.6 $70.8 mln
14.4 Sales in the Men's category fell about 3.5
percent and price points dropped about 9
percent. Sales in the Women's category rose
31 percent, while overall price points dropped
6 percent.
Children's Place (PLCE.O) -8.7 -12.0 $111.9 mln
-9.0 Sales were hurt by weak store traffic,
particularly during the latter part of the
month.
Zumiez (ZUMZ.O) -20.5 -19.3 $32.0 mln
-7.9 A decrease in comparable-store transactions and
average unit retail hurt comps for the month.
All departments posted a drop in same-store
