May 7 (Reuters) - Financial and regulatory consultancy firm Navigant Consulting Inc (NCI.N) posted lower-than-expected quarterly results as revenue fell at its disputes and financial services segments, and said it expects full-year revenue at the lower end of its previous outlook.

The company earned $5.4 million, or 11 cents a share, compared with $10.9 million, or 23 cents a share, last year.

Excluding items, the company earned 16 cents a share.

Total revenue fell 12 percent to $182.4 million.

Analysts on average were expecting earnings of 20 cents a share, before special items, on revenue of $186.4 million, according to Reuters Estimates.

Revenue at its North American dispute and investigative services and international consulting operations segments revenue fell 20 percent and 19 percent, respectively. North American business consulting services revenue dropped 17 percent.

The company expects 2009 earnings of 85 cents a share to $1.00 a share, excluding certain items, and revenue at the lower end of the range of $750 million and $825 million.

Analysts were expecting earnings of 91 cents a share, before items, on revenue of $772.4 million for the period.
