- BUMI AIMS TO CONTROL 100 PCT OF HERALD BY END 2009
Coal miner PT Bumi Resources (BUMI.JK) aims to increase its ownership of Australian-listed miner Herald Resources (HER.AX) to 100 percent from 98.39 percent currently within six weeks, said investor relations manager Dileep Srivastava. (Investor Daily)
- GLOBAL MEDIACOM SELLS ENTIRE 19 PERCENT STAKE IN MOBILE-8
PT Global Mediacom Tbk (BMTR.JK), one of Indonesia's biggest television-to-print media groups, has sold its entire 19 percent stake in mobile phone operator PT Mobile-8 Telecom Tbk (FREN.JK) for about 211.5 billion rupiah ($22.5 million), director Handhi S. - JAPANESE CONSORTIUM TO BUY 55 PCT OF LATINUSA FOR $60 MLN
A consortium of Japanese companies, including Nippon Steel Corp. (5401.T), Nippon Steel Trading (9810.T), Mitsui & Co. (8031.T) and Metal One, plans to buy 55 percent of tin plate producer PT Pelat Timah Nusantara (Latinusa), a unit of state steel maker PT Krakatau Steel, for $60 million, Latinusa's corporate secretary Haryono said. * Indonesia's index rose 0.92 percent on Wednesday. Coal miner Bumi Resources (BUMI.JK) jumped 13 percent while coal miner Indo Tambangraya Megah (ITMG.JK) soared 7 percent after its upbeat nine-month net profit. [.SO]
* The Dow and the Standard & Poor's 500 index closed at 13-month highs on Wednesday as an upbeat forecast from a top homebuilder and data from China pointed to a strengthening global economy. [.N]
