O'Brien raises Independent News stake over 10 pct

DUBLIN, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Irish telecoms billionaire Denis O'Brien said on Monday he had bought more shares in Dublin-based newspaper publisher Independent News & Media INWS.I INWS.L, raising his stake to 10.3 percent from 9.1 percent.

O'Brien said in a statement he had purchased an extra 4.85 million shares since his last statement in July. The price paid was not disclosed.

Shares in Independent News closed 3 percent lower at 3.02 euros on Monday before the statement, compared with a 1.1 percent fall on the wider Irish market .ISEQ.
