Israel's Magal Security gets $20 mln Latam order
TEL AVIV, Sept 3 (Reuters) - Israel's Magal Security Systems Ltd (MAGS.O) said on Wednesday its Senstar-Stellar unit received an order for the installation of a municipal surveillance security system for a large Latin American city.
The majority of the $20 million project will be completed during 2008, Magal (MAGS.TA) said.
The FORTIS Command and Control System to be installed in the unnamed city will integrate hundreds of cameras, emergency call units, and intelligent video analysis, all connected to one command-and-control centre operated by several security personnel during each shift.
The system, via a cellular network, will enable the control centre to monitor, control and dispatch security alerts to approximately 150 patrol cars and fast-response forces, some equipped with cameras for bi-directional video transfer.
This order follows the installation of the FORTIS system in an Asian capital.
"We believe that this market has great untapped potential, and we expect to receive orders for projects of this type from other cities in the future," Magal Chief Executive Izhar Dekel said in a statement. (Reporting by Tova Cohen, editing by Will Waterman)
