Enel may issue 2.5 bln eur bond at yr-end -report
MILAN, July 3 (Reuters) - Italian power group Enel SpA (ENEI.MI) is considering launching a bond worth around 2.5 billion euros ($3.51 billion) for institutional investors at the end of the year, Il Mondo said on Friday without citing sources.
The company is also considering a retail bond offer in 2010 which could be worth around 2 billion to 2.5 billion euros, the weekly business magazine added.
Enel, Italy's dominant power company, had no comment on the report.
According to Il Mondo, the institutional offer could be more than one bond and could be in tranches in different currencies, providing market liquidity remained plentiful.
Enel had debt of 50.8 billion euros at the end of March.
It has to refinance 12.952 billion euros of maturing debt in 2010, a spokesman said. Further ahead, maturities falling due are 2.432 billion euros in 2011 and 13.457 billion in 2012, he said.
Oil and gas group Eni (ENI.MI) recently closed a retail bond issue early because of over-demand.
Shares in Enel were off 0.22 percent at 3.465 euros at 0723 GMT, in line with the DJ Stoxx utilities index .SX6P.
