Kazakh ENRC launches $110 mln chrome pelletiser
ALMATY, July 3 (Reuters) - Kazakh miner ENRC (ENRC.L), the world's largest ferrochrome producer, has launched a new facility to produce chrome pellets at its Donskoi GOK chrome ore mine complex, the company said on Friday.
"The completion of the $110 million project with an annual production capacity of 700,000 tonnes of chrome pellets signifies the successful implementation of one of the IPO capital expenditure projects announced by the group in December 2007," ENRC, which floated shares in London that year, said in a statement.
"The new plant will double the existing pelletising capacity of Donskoi GOK to 1.4 million tonnes per annum."
It said the process allows the use of greater quantities of lower grade ore, thereby reducing wastage and improving unit mining costs and profitability. (Writing by Olzhas Auyezov)
