Italian Stocks - Factors to watch on May 5
MILAN, May 5 (Reuters) - The following factors could affect Italian markets on Tuesday.

FIAT (FIA.MI)
New car registrations in Italy fell 7.53 percent to 188,406 units in April as supplies of some models were insufficient to meet increased demand due to state incentives. [ID:nL479299]
* Up to six parties other than Fiat, including sovereign
wealth and private equity funds, remain interested in General
Motors (GM.N) Europe, the Financial Times said, citing two
people close to the Detroit carmaker. They include Canada's
Magna, Russia's Gaz, Abu Dhabi Investment Council, and
Government of Singapore Investment Corp as well as three
unidentified private equity funds.
* Fiat plans to keep all German Opel plants open should its
takeover plans for the General Motors unit succeed but would cut
staff there, Fiat Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne told

* A United Auto Workers-aligned healthcare trust would work quickly to sell shares it would receive in a new Chrysler as soon as it in a position to do so, union President Ron Gettelfinger told reporters on Monday. [ID:nN04435418]
* Chrysler won interim approval from a U.S. bankruptcy court to access a $4.5 billion loan as it tried to move ahead in its planned alliance with Fiat while the Italian automaker advanced its bid for General Motors Corp's European Opel brand.

* German Economy Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg cautioned against waiting too long to settle on a bidder for General Motors unit Opel, saying a decision could come this month. [ID:nL4368185] * Chrysler's car dealership network is on the verge of collapse, a U.S. bankruptcy court heard on Monday, as hundreds of dealerships have closed their doors this year and uncertainty about the company's future is driving consumers away. Sweden's government confirmed on Monday it has had contact
with Fiat regarding General Motors' (GM.N) struggling Swedish

IRIDE (IRD.MI)
The regional utility must pay a total of 63.9 million euros to the Italian state in order to repay aid it was given between 1996-1999 to help it transform into a public limited company. [ID:nL4199398]
