STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-Stocks at 7-week low on weak commods

European shares sink 1.7 percent in early trade, hitting a seven-week low, as shares of commodity-related companies tumble along with oil and metal prices on mounting doubts over an early global economic recovery.

The FTSEurofirst 300 .FTEU3 index of top European shares is down 1.6 percent at 828.92 points, a level not seen since May 18.

BP (BP.L) is down 1.8 percent, Total (TOTF.PA) falls 2.2 percent, and Rio Tinto (RIO.L) is down 3 percent.
