Alcatel-Lucent to cut 1,000 jobs in France-union
PARIS, July 9 (Reuters) - Franco-American telecoms equipment maker Alcatel-Lucent (ALUA.PA) plans to cut an additional 1,000 jobs in France in 2009 and 2010, union representative Marc Marandon told Reuters on Thursday.
A staff meeting is due to take place on Friday in Lannion, France, to discuss the issue, Marandon added in an email.
Alcatel-Lucent declined to comment.
"Alcatel-Lucent launched a programme to transform the group six months ago targeting an improvement in its financial performance and a rationalisation of its product portfolio," the company said. "We won't make any further comment." (Reporting by Jean-Baptiste Vey; Writing by James Regan; Editing by Greg Mahlich)
