Hambledon Mining FY output far lower than planned

LONDON, June 9 (Reuters) - Precious metals producer Hambledon Mining Plc (HMB.L) said on Tuesday that its output in 2008 was far lower than planned after a number of significant disruptions.
The AIM-listed company, which operates in Kazakhstan, said it produced 11,939 ounces of gold and 21,644 ounces of silver last year. Its pretax losses widened to 7.1 million pounds ($11.4 million) from 4.4 million.
"Although the major causes of bottlenecks in production have been resolved, we still have many things to achieve," it said in a statement.
The company added that likely changes in production levels and the outlook for gold prices XAU= show that the group will be cash generative for the foreseeable future and its borrowings can be repaid before it falls due at the end of 2009.
In a separate statement, the group said it produced 2,027 oounces of gold and 5,132 ounces of silver in April and 1,841 gold ounces and and 3,741 ounces of silver in May.
The shares were down 4.5 percent at 5.25 pence at 0725 GMT.
