UPDATE 1-USG People CEO resigning over strategy difference
* CFO to take over on interim basis
* Staffing firm has already renegotiated debt
(Adds company comment, background)
AMSTERDAM, July 10 (Reuters) - The chief executive of Dutch staffing firm USG People NV (USGP.AS), Ron Icke, is resigning due to "differences in opinions" over strategy, the company said on Friday.
Chief Financial Officer Rob Zandbergen will take over as CEO on an interim basis while keeping his current duties, USG, the Netherlands' second-largest jobs company, said in a statement.
With monthly staffing sales down by double-digits from last year -- 22 percent in June -- USG renegotiated its debt terms earlier this month to maintain its financial strength while cutting costs. [ID:nL2528435]
"Differences in opinion about the strategy to be taken have led to this decision to part company," the company said, adding that Icke would remain available for the transition until Sept. 30.
Dutch staffing companies have been hit hard by the economic downturn, with Randstad (RAND.AS), the world's second-largest jobs company, reporting a 73 percent drop in earnings before interest, taxes and amortisation during the first quarter.
USG is scheduled to report second quarter earnings on July 24. (Reporting by Reed Stevenson; Editing by David Cowell)
