GENERAL AND POLITICS
DNEVNIK - About half of the Bulgarians say unemployment will soar up over the next 12 months due to the economic crisis, a report by the stats office shows.
- The prosecutor's office will charge Maria Murgina, former head of the State Revenue Agency, with criminal breach of trust (Dnevnik, 24 Chasa, Trud, Klasa, Duma, Novinar).
ECONOMY
- Economists from the ruling Socialist party suggest the social insurance burden be cut from some 19 percent to 14 percent, Economy and Energy Minister Petar Dimitrov said (Trud, Pari, Sega).
BUSINESS
DNEVNIK - Bulgaria's fuel distributor Petrol PETB.BB posted a profit of less than 800,000 levs ($539,100) for the first quarter of 2009, down 99 percent on an annual basis.
- China's largest sport utility vehicle maker, Great Wall Motor Co (2333.HK), and Bulgaria's Litex start the construction of a 80 million euro ($105.4 million) car plant near the northern town of Lovech (Trud, Klasa).
