SGL Carbon seeks aviation tie-ups, paper
FRANKFURT, June 11 (Reuters) - Carbon-based products maker SGL Carbon (SGCG.DE) wants to expand its business in the aviation industry and wants to do so through closer tie-ups with Airbus (EAD.PA) and Boeing (BA.N), its CEO told a German daily.
Chief executive Robert Koehler said SGL was also focusing cooperation efforts mostly on Boeing, Handelsblatt said in a prerelease on Thursday of its Friday edition.
"The company knows us and when it comes to conversion of aluminium substances into carbon, Boeing is looking for a competent partner," Koehler said.
Handelsblatt said aircraft makers were focusing on carbon fibre to reduce the weight of planes. (Reporting by Marilyn Gerlach; Editing by Dan Lalor)
