Italian Stocks - Factors to watch on May 12

 MILAN, May 12 (Reuters) - The following factors could affect
Italian markets on Tuesday.

 FIAT (FIA.MI)
 General Motors Corp (GM.N) said it was interested in keeping
a minority stake in its restructured European operations and
plans to have a framework for a deal to sell the unit by the end
of the month. Fiat is in talks with GM to merge its car business

  * Chrysler's [CBS.UL] 16,000 salaried retirees will start
their fight this week for their benefits in the automaker's
bankruptcy restructuring, with the potential to create a public

 INTESA SANPAOLO (ISP.MI)
 Italy's antitrust authority could open an inquiry on
Thursday into a pact between shareholders Assicurazioni Generali
(GASI.MI) and Credit Agricole (CAGR.PA) unless the deal is
changed, a source close to the issue said on Monday.

 Chairman Cesare Geronzi's conviction on bankruptcy fraud
charges in a case concerning hotel and property group
Italcase-Bagaglino has been overturned on appeal, a legal source

 Mediobanca posts fiscal third-quarter results.
 
  * ALITALIA AZPIa.MI
 Italy's Treasury might increase to 60-70 percent from 30
percent the amount that bondholders can recover from the
airline, Finanza & Mercati said, citing Treasury sources.
 
  * TELECOM ITALIA (TLIT.MI)
 The telecommunications operator has hired Mediobanca and
Banca IMI to look for a buyer for Sparkle, a unit that operates
fibre optics networks in Europe and elsewhere, Il Sole 24 Ore
said; although Sparkle's book value stands at 700 million euros,
it could fetch more than 1.2 billion euros; privae equity firms
such as Clessidra, Carlyle and F2i could be interested.

  * TELECOM ITALIA MEDIA (TCM.MI)
 The broadcaster will only consider offers that value its
digital terrestrial assets at about 300 million euros, Il Sole
24 Ore said.
