PHILIPS (PHG.AS)
Dutch conglomerate Philips Electronics (PHG.AS)(PHG.N) said on Monday sales may show some improvement in the second half after reporting a second-quarter operating profit that beat analyst expectations.

EDF (EDF.PA)
France's main electricity provider EDF (EDF.PA) is discussing swapping assets with Italian utility Enel (ENEI.MI), French business newspaper La Tribune reported on Monday.

Separately, a government source denied a news report that the state would demand the resignation of EDF head Pierre Gadonneix due to the level of debts at the power group and his temerity to have asked for a 20 percent tariff rise over the next three years.
The source added the state had no worries about the stability of EDF. Gadonneix, born in 1943, was named at the head of EDF in 2004, coming from GDF. His current term ends in November but he is seeking a new term.
