STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-Stocks rise ahead of key U.S. earnings

European equities extend the previous session's sharp gains in early trade, led by banks and miners, with investors keenly awaiting quarterly results from companies such as Goldman Sachs (GS.N) and Intel (INTC.O).

The FTSEurofirst 300 .FTEU3 index of top European shares is up 0.4 percent at 833.84 points after rebounding 2 percent in the previous session.

Financial shares pace the gains with UniCredit (CRDI.MI) up 1.6 percent, HSBC (HSBA.L) up 0.8 percent and BNP Paribas (BNPP.PA) up 1.5 percent.
