Mota-Engil first-quarter net profit rises 9 pct

LISBON, May 15 (Reuters) - Portugal's largest construction company, Mota-Engil (MOTA.LS), posted on Friday a 9 percent rise in first-quarter net profit to 2.4 million euros ($3.25 million), helped by an increase in revenues, to beat market expectations.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 10 percent from a year earlier to 65 million euros and revenues rose 12 percent to 430 million euros.

Five analysts surveyed by Reuters had estimated, on average, a net profit of 600,000 euros, EBITDA of 64 million euros and revenues of 438 million euros. (Reporting by Andrei Khalip)
