LONDON, July 15 (Reuters) - Nomura has hired former Citigroup investment banker William Barter as a managing director in its London office, a person familiar with the matter said on Wednesday.

Barter advised Thomas Cook (TCG.L) on its 2007 purchase of MyTravel, and British software company Axon on its acquisition by India's HCL Technologies Ltd (HCLT.BO) last year.

Citigroup (C.N) and Nomura (8604.T) declined to comment. (Reporting by Quentin Webb)
