UPDATE 1-EU ends legal action against Austria over gambling

BRUSSELS, March 19 (Reuters) - The European Commission said on Thursday it had ended a legal case against Austria over gambling at casinos.

The case concerned possible discrimination relating to legal protection provided to casino players in Austria.

"The European Commission decided to close the infringement case... after reform of the Austrian law on gaming which extended protection for players to all citizens of the EU," the Commission said. (Reporting by Pete Harrison)
