UPDATE 1-Egypt's Ahli United says H1 net up 30.1 pct

CAIRO, Aug 19 (Reuters) - Ahli United Bank Egypt (AUBK.CA) said on Tuesday it made a net profit of 106.1 million Egyptian pounds ($19.8 million) in the first half of 2008, 30.1 percent up on the same period of 2007.

Ahli United Bank Egypt is a subsidiary of Bahrain's Ahli United Bank AUBB.BH(AUBK.KW), which took control in 2006 and changed its name from Delta International Bank.

The bank's net interest income rose 11.2 percent in the six-month period to 94.9 million pounds and net operating income rose 40.1 percent to 182.5 million pounds, the bank said in a statement.

The bank's total assets increased 23.5 percent to 7.1 billion pounds and loans to customers grew 25.4 percent to 3.1 billion, it added. ($1 = 5.357 Egyptian pounds) (Writing by Jonathan Wright, editing by Will Waterman)
