Codere consortium wins Uruguay hotel casino -source
MADRID, Jan 19 (Reuters) - A consortium led by Spanish gaming group Codere (CDRE.MC) has been awarded a licence to manage the Hotel Casino Carrasco in Montevideo, Uruguay, a source close to the deal told Reuters on Monday.
The consortium plans to spend some 45 million euros ($60 million) to refurbish the 200-room hotel and add a casino over the next two years, the source said.
Codere holds 60 percent of the consortium, in which hotel group Sofitel, a unit of French hotels and services group Accor (ACCP.PA) and IGG are also partners.
Codere already operates the Maronas racetrack and four slot machine establishments in Montevideo, outside the racetrack, with 1,294 machines. It also has another four establishments where bets can be laid on horse and greyhound racing. (Reporting by Rodrigo de Miguel; Writing by Tracy Rucinski, editing by Will Waterman)
