Shares in Stagecoach Group PLc (SGC.L) rise 7.6 percent as the bus and train operator posts in-line full year results and says current trading is in line with expectations.

Astaire Securities analyst Douglas McNeil says there are several positives in the statement: "Cash generation was good, the dividend was raised and results were in line."

"Conditions are tough in rail, but they've done what they can," he adds.

Shares in drinks maker C&C (GCC.I) rise almost 3 percent to outperform most other Irish stocks after Goodbody Stockbrokers say their survey of British pubs showed strong uptake of C&C's new perry or pear cider drink.

"This news comes on top of other recent positive trends, including positive year-on-year sales in Ireland (versus declines assumed in our forecasts), relatively good summer weather (so far!) and the strengthening of sterling," Goodbody analyst Liam Igoe says in a note.
