DUBLIN, Feb 26 (Reuters) - Teleperformance (ROCH.PA), a global call centre operator, will expand its operations in Northern Ireland and create 610 jobs, it said on Thursday.

French-owned Teleperformance already employs about 1,300 people at Bangor and Newry in the British province and this expansion will make it one of the largest employers in Northern Ireland.

"Newry and Bangor have rapidly become a vital part of our UK network," Jeff Smith, chairman and chief executive of Teleperformance, said in a statement.

Newry will become Teleperformance's flagship centre in the UK following the expansion. Its main competitors include Convergys Corp (CVG.N) and Sykes Enterprises (SYKE.O).
