Slovene Telekom plans to halve 2008 dividend

LJUBLJANA, March 27 (Reuters) - Slovenia's telecommunication operator Telekom Slovenia (TLSG.LJ) said on Friday it plans to pay a dividend of 6 euros ($8.14) per share for 2008, down from 12.8 euros paid last year.

In February, Telekom reported a 3-percent fall in 2008 group net profit to 86 million euros.

"The size of the dividend depends upon business result, tax policy and investment policy," Telekom said in a statement.

Shareholders have to approve the dividend payment at their meeting on June 30. ($1=.7368 Euro) (Reporting by Marja Novak; editing by Simon Jessop)
