Morocco's Attijari 2008 net profit grows 27 pct
RABAT, March 27 (Reuters) - Moroccan bank Attijariwafabank (ATW.CS) saw net profit grow 27 percent last year, pushed higher by acquisitions and credit growth, the company said on Friday.
Net income was 3.1 billion dirhams ($372 million) while revenues grew 25 percent to 11 billion dirhams, north Africa's biggest private bank said in a statement.
Client deposits rose 11 percent to 152 billion dirhams, while client credits were up 24 percent at 132 billion dirhams, giving the bank a market share of 25.6 percent.
Restrictions on capital movement have shielded Moroccan banks from the global financial crisis. Banking reforms have slashed interest rates since the start of the decade and fuelled a credit boom that underpinned consumer demand.
