- Taxes, the high cost of doing business here and lax consumer attitudes are to blame for higher prices in the Republic compared with Northern Ireland, according to a Competition Authority report to be released today.
- The Billy Wright inquiry will not seek to have Ian Paisley jnr jailed for refusing to reveal a source because he wants imprisonment too much, the High Court heard yesterday.
- Former C&C (GCC.I) chief executive Maurice Pratt received
2.19 million euros ($3.1 million) from the ailing drinks firm
when his contract was terminated last year following a collapse
in its share price as sales and profits declined.
