STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-UK small caps down 0.4 pct at close

The FTSE small cap index is down 0.4 percent by the close of trade, taking its cue from the wider UK market, as the FTSE 100 .FTSE sheds 1 percent and the FTSE 250 .FTMC falls 0.8 percent, following weaker than expected data in the U.S.

Newspaper publishers Johnston Press (JPR.L), Trinity Mirror (TNI.L) and Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGOa.L) gain between 2 and 16.7 percent on the back of covenant news and a bullish note from UBS. [ID:nLU380868]
