WAL-MART STORES INC (WMT.N)
The discount retailer said it would add more than 22,000 jobs in its U.S. namesake stores in 2009. [ID:nN03123661]
Shares closed Wednesday at $50.88.
COSTCO WHOLESALE CORP (COST.O)
The retailer reported a drop of 7 percent in its May same-store sales when fuel is included. Comparable sales were up 1 percent excluding fuel. [ID:nBNG109510]
Shares closed Wednesday at $48.47.
CIENA CORP (CIEN.O)
Shares fell 5 percent to $10.47 in premarket trading after it reported a bigger-than-expected second-quarter loss and sales that were lower than expected. [ID:nN03110699]
GOLDMAN SACHS GROUP INC (GS.N)
Bernstein Research upgraded the financial services company to outperform from market perform and raised its price target to $176 from $113. [ID:nWNAB6552]
APPLE INC (AAPL.O)
Societe Generale started coverage on the company at buy, calling it one of the strongest brands in the consumer electronic industry. [ID:nBNG386177]
Separately, Apple said it would invest up to $1 billion over the next nine years to build a data center in North Carolina. [ID:nN03132336]
Shares fell 0.5 percent to $140.31 in premarket trading.
FORD MOTOR CO (F.N)
The auto company's car venture in China sold 48.7 percent more vehicles from a year earlier, its Chinese partner said. [ID:nSHA320235]
Shares rose by a penny to $6.19 in premarket trading.
UAL CORP (UAUA.O)
The parent company of United Airlines has asked Boeing (BA.N) and Airbus (EAD.PA) to put forward competing bids for up to 150 new airliners, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. [ID:nBNG175386]

HALOZYME THERAPEUTICS INC (HALO.O)
The company said it wouldn't further develop its bisphosphonate-PH20 Phase 1 program for osteoporosis based on results of an open-label study. [ID:nBNG337653]

COLLECTIVE BRANDS INC (PSS.N)

GEOEYE INC (GEOY.O)

Shares rose 9 percent at $23.97 in after-market trade.
HOT TOPIC INC (HOTT.O)

COMTECH TELECOMMUNICATIONS CORP (CMTL.O)

Shares rose 6.2 percent to $31.08 in after-hours trading.
ADOLOR CORP (ADLR.O)
The biopharmaceutical company said it was cutting about 28 percent of its workforce and restructuring its discovery group to focus on late-stage, preclinical compounds to lower cash burn. [ID:nBNG318680]
Shares closed at $2.26 on Wednesday.
G-III APPAREL GROUP LTD (GIII.O)
