WAL-MART STORES (WMT.N)

Shares of the Dow component closed Wednesday at $54.38 and rose to $56.39 before the bell on Thursday.
DUPONT (DD.N)
The company forecast a fourth-quarter loss and said it would be making job reductions. [ID:nWNAB9628]
Shares of the Dow component slid 7.2 percent to $21.92 in premarket trade on Thursday.
GENERAL MOTORS GM.N
GM and Chrysler are considering accepting a prearranged bankruptcy as the last-resort price of getting a multibillion dollar government bailout, according to Bloomberg. [ID:nL4396271]
Shares of GM, a Dow component, closed Wednesday at $4.90 and slid to $4.81 before the bell on Wednesday.
MERCK & CO (MRK.N)
The pharmaceutical company gave a 2009 outlook that was below analyst expectations. [ID:nN04374909]
Shares of the Dow component slid 5.5 percent to $25 in premarket trade on Thursday.
TOLL BROTHERS INC (TOL.N)
The luxury home builder reported a fourth-quarter loss that narrowed from the prior year as it wrote down less inventory. [ID:nN04376437]
AT&T INC (T.N)
The communications company said it would cut about 12,000 jobs, or 4 percent of its work force. It also said it would take a charge of about $600 million in its fourth quarter. [ID:nN04378498]

COSTCO WHOLESALE CORP (COST.O)

ENZON PHARMACEUTICALS INC (ENZN.O)
The biopharmaceutical company said on Wednesday it will purchase part of its 4 percent convertible senior notes due 2013 and will utilize $100 million of current cash for the tender. Shares of the company rose more than 14 percent after the bell. They closed at $4.83 on Nasdaq.
SYNOPSYS INC (SNPS.O)
The world's top producer of chip-making software posted a fourth-quarter profit above estimates and provided first quarter and 2009 outlook range in line with estimates. Shares of the company rose 7 percent after the bell. They closed at $15.09 on Nasdaq.
AEROVIRONMENT INC (AVAV.O)
The maker of unmanned aircraft systems posted better-than-expected quarterly results that beat Wall Street estimates, driven by increased sales at its two major segments. Shares of the company rose 7 percent after the bell. They closed at $30.91 on Nasdaq.
CIRRUS LOGIC INC (CRUS.O)
The chipmaker provided revenue outlook for the third quarter below analysts' estimates. Shares of the company fell 11 percent after the bell. They closed at $4.23 on Nasdaq.
