NEW YORK, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Some U.S. stocks to watch on Thursday:
YAHOO INC (YHOO.O)
MICROSOFT (MSFT.O)
Jerry Yang, Yahoo Inc's chief executive, on Thursday said that he believes a deal between itself and Microsoft is still the best option for the software company. For details, see [ID:nN05361782]
Yahoo shares closed Wednesday at $13.92 while shares of Microsoft, a Dow component, closed at $22.08.
WAL-MART STORES INC (WMT.N)
The discount retailer reported an increase of 2.4 percent in October same-store sales, above analysts' expectations. [ID:nN06535304]
Shares of the Dow component closed Wednesday at $54.13 and edged up to $54.35 before the bell on Thursday.
COSTCO WHOLESALE CORP (COST.O)
The retailer said October comparable sales fell 1 percent. Analysts were expecting growth of 3.6 percent, including fuel. [ID:nWNAB8735]
Shares of the company closed Wednesday at $53.17 but fell to $52.60 before the bell.
CISCO SYSTEMS (CSCO.O)
The company late Wednesday said revenue could fall as much as 10 percent in the current quarter. [ID:nN05343782]
Shares of the technology company closed at $17.39 and fell to $16.51 before the bell.
AMAZON.COM INC (AMZN.O)
Citigroup downgraded the company to hold from buy. [RCH/US]
The stock closed at $51.98 and slid to $50 before the bell.
AUTONATION (AN.N)
The company swung to a loss in its third-quarter, hurt by the slump in the U.S. auto market, as well as noncash charges for goodwill and franchise impairments. [ID:nN06523958]
AutoNation shares closed Wednesday at $6.09.
TYCO ELECTRONICS (TEL.N)
The manufacturer of electronic connectors reported fourth-quarter earnings that beat expectations. [ID:nN06519010]

OFFICEMAX INC (OMX.N)
The office supplies retail reported a net loss of $5.70 a share on a note backed by Lehman Brothers. On an adjusted basis, it posted earnings of 36 cents a share. [ID:nN27426256]
OfficeMax shares closed Wednesday at $5.57.
HERTZ GLOBAL HOLDINGS (HTZ.N)
The car rental company said it wouldn't meet its current earnings guidance and suspended making estimates until the economy improves. [ID:nN05360371]

TEVA PHARMACEUTICAL (TEVA.O)

ALNYLAM PHARMACEUTICALS INC (ALNY.O)

LEAP WIRELESS INTERNATIONAL INC (LEAP.O)
