Drug helps monkeys, rabbits survive anthrax -study
CHICAGO, July 8 (Reuters) - Human Genome Sciences Inc's (HGSI.O) experimental antibody drug ABthrax helped rabbits and monkeys survive a deadly dose of anthrax bacteria and proved safe in humans, too, company researchers said on Wednesday.
Some 44 percent of rabbits and 64 percent of monkeys that got a single shot of the drug, also called raxibacumab, survived 200 times the average lethal exposure to anthrax, the company reported in the New England Journal of Medicine. (Editing by Maggie Fox)
