Gaiam files shelf for 5 mln Class A shares

WASHINGTON, Nov 8 (Reuters) - Gaiam Inc (GAIA.O) filed with U.S. regulators on Thursday to periodically sell up to 5 million Class A shares.

The company said in a registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it plans to use the proceeds from the offering to fund expansion of its business.

Under a shelf registration, a company may sell securities in one or more separate offerings with the size, price and terms to be determined at the time of sale. (Reporting by Karey Wutkowski, editing by Leslie Gevirtz)
