 Shares of Home Depot Inc (HD.N) rose in premarket trading on Wednesday,
after the home improvement retailer raised its 2009 earnings outlook and
affirmed its sales expectations.
 On an adjusted basis, it expects earnings per share from continuing
operations to fall by 20 percent to 26 percent, compared with its previous
forecast of a 26 percent decline.

 Shares of the Dow component rose 3.5 percent to $25.20 in premarket
trading.

 The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (FDIC) is trying to ease tensions with
Citigroup Inc (C.N) after the regulator pushed to replace Chief Executive
Vikram Pandit, according to a report in the Financial Times.
 FDIC Chairman Sheila Bair addressed Citigroup's board on Tuesday and called
for an end to the "squabbling" between the two sides, reminding the bank that
the FDIC was carrying out its normal regulatory duties, the paper reported.

 Shares of Citi rose 3.2 percent to $3.52 in premarket trading.

 JPMorgan on Wednesday raised its price target on both Goldman Sachs Group
Inc (GS.N) and Morgan Stanley (MS.N), saying fixed income would be a big
earnings driver in 2009 and 2010.
 "Besides our fixed income over equities preference, we seek gearing to
private banking with limited credit risk," the firm wrote.
 Goldman's target was lifted to $150 from $120, while Morgan Stanley's was
raised to $33 from $28.
 JPMorgan also upgraded Deutsche Bank AG (DB.N)(DBKGn.DE) to "neutral" from
"underweight."

 Shares of Goldman rose 1.4 percent to $151.44 in premarket trading, while
Morgan Stanley closed Tuesday at $30.98. U.S.-listed shares of Deutsche Bank
rose 2.8 percent to $67.54 before the bell.

 Tom Staggs, the chief financial officer of Walt Disney Co (DIS.N), said
late Tuesday it was seeing "continued signs of stability in the marketplace,"
though consumers and ad buyers were still "cautious."
 "We think that will continue for some time," Staggs told the Credit Suisse
Global Media and Communications Convergence Conference.
