NEW YORK, Nov 13 (Reuters) - Shares in Juniper Networks (JNPR.N) rose 6 percent after Oppenheimer & Co upgraded the stock to "outperform" from "perform."

Oppenheimer said Juniper was well positioned to benefit from improved spending by telecommunications carriers from 2010 onwards. Its analyst Ittai Kidron also noted Juniper's efforts to expand sales channels through partnerships as well as improving margins.

The shares rose $1.48 to $26.18. They had fallen 2.6 percent on Thursday due to concerns of more competition after Hewlett-Packard Co (HPQ.N) announced plans to buy network equipment maker 3Com Corp (COMS.O).
